Academic Activities

The admission to all the courses is done on the basis of merit. However, due to declining number of students opting for B.Sc any 12th pass student is allowed admission except in self-financing subjects. Being an institution committed to offering higher education in science subjects to all the students of Madhya Pradesh no one is denied equality of opportunity in this process. At the same time it follows the policy of the state government in the matter of reservations for the students belonging to SCs/STs/OBCs.

Teaching is largely done through the traditional classroom lecture method though charts and models also support the teaching process wherever so required. There are use of Audio video aids in classrooms for courses such as Computer, Mathematics, Botany, Zoology and Chemistry with described self finance courses. The needy and brilliant students are given inputs and incentives in the shape of scholarships and fee concessions on behalf of the state government.

Teaching modules or lessons are so planned in the beginning of the session by the teachers  that the syllabi are covered by the time the examinations are conducted. The teachers also maintain their teaching record. Laboratory sessions, assignment work, practical's etc. are given due weightage as per university requirements and stipulations. The college has one hundred and eighty teaching days out of its two hundred and ninety four working days, which are bisected in two semesters. The teachers take classes with each period of forty  minutes duration. There are forty four teachers at present in the college as against fifty four sanctioned posts. The college has also recruited  part-time teachers called guest teachers on the basis of hourly payment of honorarium.

90 % of its regular teachers have Ph.D as their highest qualification. The college has a support staff of forty persons as against sixty five posts that includes both administrative as well as technical personnel. Teaching and non-teaching staff ratio is almost 1:1

Almost all the teachers have attended the Refresher and Orientation courses as required under UGC guidelines and state government rules for entitlement to higher grades and career progression. Teachers are encouraged to attend seminars and academic conferences in Vikram University, Ujjain and at other places to enrich their knowledge in their respective subjects and areas of interest. The recruitment of the teachers is done through Madhya Pradesh Public Service Commission as per qualifications prescribed by the UGC and the university keeping in view the requirements.

Each teacher carries the teaching responsibility of 24 periods a week as stipulated in the rules prescribed by the state government and the university. The performance of the students is monitored through random tests and discussions in the class.

The attendance of students is 75% though the mandatory requirement of the university to appear in the examination. Several students obtain I division and are placed in the merit list of the university.
